Ballot tracking

How to track your ballot

If you requested a mail (absentee) ballot, you can track it online.

  • Step 1: visit mi.gov/myvoterinfo.
  • Step 2: enter your name, birth month/year, and ZIP code in the text boxes and select "search by name"
    OR
scroll down and search by your driver's license number.
  • Step 3: check the "Absentee ballot" section to see the date your ballot was sent and whether the clerk has received your completed ballot.

Get notifications

If you want to get an email when your clerk sends and receives your ballot you can sign up at mi.gov/ballotalert.

  • Step 1: Go to mi.gov/ballotalert.
  • Step 2: enter your name, birth month/year, and ZIP code in the text boxes and select "search by name"
    OR
scroll down and search by your driver's license number.
  • Step 3: enter your email address, check the consent box, and select “Submit.”
  • You’re all set!

You can also sign up to receive notifications when you update your voter registration, when you register to vote for the first time, or when you apply for a mail ballot online.

NOTE: Ballot tracking is only for mail ballots and ballot applications. If you choose to return your mail ballot in person at an early voting site or on Election Day, you will not see your ballot marked as "received" online, and you will not receive a notification.
