Department of State suspends Ferndale repair facility for violations

The Department of State has suspended the registration of Ferndale auto repair facility Amazin Auto Repair Inc., 503 E. Eight Mile Road, because of several violations of the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Act.

Secretary of State regulatory staff said Amazin Auto Repair had been continuously employing mechanics who didn’t have proper certification to diagnose repairs and service vehicles. Additional violations included failing to reveal important information to a customer, charging for repairs not performed, providing a customer with an improper invoice and charging for the replacement of parts found still in the vehicle after the supposed service. Further, the licensee failed to maintain records as required by law.

Repair facilities may request an administrative hearing to contest their suspension and may regain their license if they show they’ve complied with the law. Additional administrative actions are also possible.

Consumers who have a complaint against Amazin Auto Repair are encouraged to call the Office of Investigative Services automotive complaint line at 517-335-1410.
