Department of State suspends license of Flint dealership

FLINT – The Michigan Department of State has suspended the business license of a Flint vehicle dealer for noncompliance with the law.

FYI Auto LLC, 1901 Corunna Road, owned by Ira Chapman and Finis Harwell, was cited July 19 for failing to produce dealership records for inspection. A state regulatory agent found the property chained and locked, and the building vacant.

A summary suspension was issued July 22. Chapman and Harwell will have to provide state regulatory staff with all dealership records on file back to July 23, 2014, before the summary suspension can be lifted. State law requires vehicle dealers to keep dealership records on file for five years. The owners have the option to request an informal preliminary conference and then an administrative hearing if they dispute the outcome of the regulatory review.

Consumers who have a complaint against FYI Auto are encouraged to call the Office of Investigative Services automotive complaint line at 517-335-1410.
