Clare Secretary of State office to close for remodeling until Dec. 12

CLARE – The Secretary of State office in Clare will be closed for two weeks for a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.

The office at 121 Schoolcrest Ave. will not open on Monday, Nov. 28 following the Thanksgiving holiday closures this Thursday and Friday and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12.

Residents and staff will benefit from renovations including installation of a new counter, expanded lobby space, updated equipment and new carpet and paint.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet or mobile phone.

Self-service stations are available for instant registration, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions. The nearest machines to Clare are located at the Mt. Pleasant Meijer, 1015 E. Pickard St., and Gladwin Family Fare, 1204 N. State St.
