Secretary of State office in Iron River to close for remodeling project until Aug. 21

Many transactions can be done at Michigan.gov/SOS

IRON RIVER, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 992 Lalley Road in Iron River will be closed for a week during a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.

The office will be closed Monday, Aug. 14 through Friday, Aug. 18 and will resume normal service at 8 a.m. (CDT) on Monday, Aug. 21.

Renovations include electrical updates, changes to the counter and new carpet.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet or mobile phone.

Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office in Iron Mountain at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424.

The Iron Mountain office is located at 1044 S. Stephenson Ave. and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (CDT), except Wednesdays, when the hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT).
