Postcards inform voters of their options to cast a ballot in Aug. and Nov. elections
LANSING, Mich. – Millions of Michigan households are now receiving a postcard with important voting information from the Michigan Department of State. The postcards inform voters of their options to vote in the Aug. 6 Primary Election and the Nov. 5 General Election: with an absentee ballot, at an in-person early voting site, or at their polling place on Election Day.
“In Michigan, we want to make sure all voters know every option you have to make sure your voice is heard in this critical election year – so check your mailboxes,” Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said. “Whether you choose to vote early, by mail, or on Election Day, Michigan offers safe, secure, and convenient voting options for every eligible voter.”
Postcards are being sent to households with at least one registered Michigan voter and are arriving over the next week or so. The postcards are clearly marked as Official Election Mail, authorized by the U.S. Postal Service to guarantee they are an official source of accurate election information.
Michigan’s Primary Election is Tuesday, Aug. 6. Michigan voters have options to participate:
Voters may only choose one voting option for each election. As soon as a voter casts a ballot by mail, at an early voting site, or on Election Day, it is immediately recorded in the state’s secure Qualified Voter File. Clerks will not issue a second ballot if one has already been submitted. Only one ballot per voter will be counted.
