Secretary of State office in Troy to close for remodeling project until Nov. 4

TROY, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 1111 E. Long Lake Rd. in Troy will be closed for two weeks during a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.
The office will be closed Monday, Oct. 21, through Friday, Nov. 1, and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.
The project includes reconstruction of the counters at the office, the addition of power assist doors to the entrance, a new public restroom, new paint and electrical updates.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Self-service stations provide instant registration, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options, including Spanish. The nearest self-service stations are located in Kroger stores at 31 E. Long Lake Rd. and 3125 John R. Rd. in Troy and in the Meijer store at 3175 S. Rochester Rd. in Rochester Hills.
Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424.
The nearest offices are located at 2250 Crooks Rd. in Rochester Hills and 7917 19 Mile Rd. in Sterling Heights. Both offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays, when the hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
