MCL 333.16189, which authorizes Michigan's participation in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) contained a provision indicating that MCL 333.16189 was repealed effective March 28, 2025.  As a result, Michigan has begun the process of withdrawing from the IMLC.

Please note that pursuant to MCL 333.16189, the withdrawal is effective March 28, 2026 and Michigan remains active in the IMLC until that time. As such, Michigan will continue to issue licenses and license renewals under the IMLC and serve as a valid state of principal license for physicians seeking licensure in other states.  However, absent further legislative action, those licenses may no longer be valid after March 28, 2026.
