Bureau of Fire Services - Fire Fighter Training

Per MCL 29.369, the State Fire Marshal may waive firefighter examination requirements for veterans who have completed Department of Defense fire fighter training that is equivalent to the National Fire Protection Association's standard 1001 and meets the State's standards.

The veteran must provide a copy of their DD214 and DD215 to prove separation from the armed forces was with an honorable character of service or under honorable conditions (general) character of service.
