Under the Liquor Control Code and administrative rules, the legal hours for selling alcohol in Michigan on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve differ from the legal hours the rest of the year:
Christmas Eve/Morning Sales Prohibited
MCL 436.2113(5) prohibits licensees from selling any alcoholic liquor (beer, wine, mixed spirit drinks, or spirits) between 11:59 P.M. on December 24 and 12:00 Noon on December 25. This applies to all licensees that sell alcoholic liquor for consumption on or off the licensed premises.
Administrative rule R 436.1403(7) allows on-premises licensees only to sell alcoholic liquor until 4:00 A.M. on January 1 and allows the consumption of alcoholic liquor until 4:30 A.M. on the licensed premises on January 1.
