Self-Service Dispensing Equipment for On-Premises Liquor Licensees

  • No permit or Commission approval necessary.
  • Dispensing machine is located at the customer’s table or booth.
  • Dispensing machine does not dispense more than 96 ounces of beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink* in a single order.
  • Dispensing machine must not dispense spirits, mixed drinks, or cocktails.
  • Customers must order beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink from an employee of the licensee
  • Unlimited quantities of beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink must not be served through the dispensing machine.
  • The licensee and its employee serving alcoholic liquor must monitor the sale, service, and consumption of beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink from the dispensing machine to ensure compliance with the Michigan Liquor Control Code and administrative rules.

  • No permit or Commission approval necessary.
  • Dispensing machine is not located at the customer’s table or booth.
  • Dispensing machine is activated by a secure key card supplied by the licensee’s employee to the customer. The secure key card must be attached to the customer at all times through a necklace or bracelet.
  • Dispensing machine does not dispense more than 32 ounces of beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink* before the key card must be reactivated by the licensee’s employee.
  • Dispensing machine must not dispense more than 16 ounces of beer, or 12 ounces of wine or mixed spirit drink per serving.
  • Dispensing machine must not dispense spirits, mixed drinks, or cocktails.
  • Customers must order beer, wine , or mixed spirit drink from an employee of the licensee.
  • Unlimited quantities of beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink must not be served through the dispensing machine.
  • The licensee and its employee serving alcoholic liquor must monitor the sale, service, and consumption of beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink from the dispensing machine to ensure compliance with the Michigan Liquor Control Code and administrative rules.
  • A licensee that has these self-service machines faces double maximum fines of up to $2,000 for violations where an underaged minor or intoxicated person is served alcohol, regardless of whether the alcohol was served from the self-service dispensers.

 

*Mixed spirit drink products are spirit-based drinks with lower alcohol content (less than 10% for most products or less than 13.5% for canned cocktails) that are produced and packaged by the original manufacturer. These are not mixed drinks or cocktails mixed by a bartender on the premises.
