LARA Reports Full Compliance at 9 Construction Sites During 2026 Coordinated Enforcement Effort

LANSING, MI — The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs’ (LARA) Bureau of Construction Codes found all nine construction sites inspected during a national coordinated enforcement effort were compliant with Michigan’s licensee-to-apprentice ratios requirements.

From October 12 to October 23, 2026, LARA participated in the National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA) Coordinated Enforcement Effort, joining regulatory agencies from across the country to promote licensing compliance and protect public safety.

During the effort, LARA inspectors visited nine construction sites throughout Michigan, including four electrical and five plumbing projects, encountering more than 500 licensees. All nine sites met the state’s licensee-to-apprentice ratio requirements, which help ensure apprentices receive appropriate supervision and training from qualified professionals.

“Ensuring that construction professionals meet Michigan's licensing and supervision requirements is essential to protecting the safety of our residents and communities,” said Marlon I. Brown, Director of LARA. “These inspections demonstrate the importance of accountability in the skilled trades and our commitment to maintaining the standards that help keep homes, businesses, and workplaces safe.”

This marks the second year that Michigan has participated in the NASCLA coordinated enforcement effort. In addition to participating in national initiatives, LARA conducts ongoing inspections, enforcement, and educational activities to promote compliance with state construction code and licensing requirements.
LARA encourages consumers to hire licensed professionals and verify their licenses before starting a construction project. To verify a license, visit www.Michigan.gov/LARA.
