Employers & TPAs: Remember to activate/initiate accounts
MiUI for Tax is officially live so employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) can begin to use the new platform to report wages and pay unemployment taxes.
All employers should be sure to initiate their new MiUI accounts. April’s wage and tax reporting period is around the corner — quarter one is due April 27.

If you have initiated your account and assigned roles to a third-party administrator — if you are using one — thank you for setting up your account and exploring the benefits of MiUI.
Don’t wait until the last minute to get into MiUI. Be sure you or your TPA have access and are familiar with using the new system to be ready to file your quarterly report and pay taxes.
How to find your MiUI activation code
Employers and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) need an 8-digit MiUI Activation Code to set up an account.
Go to your MiWAM homepage and look under the MiUI Account Activation Code tab to retrieve the code.
After your account is initiated, you can use the link at Michigan.gov/UIA to access MiUI in the future.
More information about the initiation/registration process can be found on the MiLogin employer training page at MiUI University, or you can view this video for more information.
Ready to log in to MiUI? Log in for Employers here and log in for TPAs here.
What’s MiLogin for Business and why do I need it?
All employers and TPAs need an active MiLogin for Business account to access MiUI. Answers to the most common questions about MiLogin can be found by clicking on the button below.
MiLogin for Business connects you to many State of Michigan business services through a single user ID. This includes tasks like renewing a business license.
Post-Go live MiUI Frequently Asked Questions
Now that MiUI for Tax is live, check out these FAQs to find answers to common questions:
Where do I begin with MiUI? Please follow the steps in the Getting Started with MiUI reference guide.
When I reach the Account Setup page, which option should I select to set up my MiUI account? If you previously used a MiWAM account for tax functions, please select either the Employer Account Initiation or the TPA Account Initiation option when setting up your account. Register Employer is for new employers that did not previously have a MiWAM account. Activate User Profile is for new users when an account administrator has added them to MiUI.
Where can I find support and learning resources? Employers and TPAs can find more information and resources about UIA’s new computer system implementation at MiUI University.

How you can help UIA fight and prevent fraud
The UIA is asking employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) to play an active role in preventing and reporting unemployment insurance fraud.
Fraudulent activity — such as misclassifying workers, underreporting wages, paying employees off the books, or manipulating payroll to lower tax rates — undermines the UI system and can lead to severe penalties.
The UIA encourages employers and TPAs to protect themselves by accurately reporting employee separations, filing new hire information on time, responding promptly to agency requests, and submitting quarterly wage reports and taxes as required.
Anyone who knows or suspects fraud is urged to report it to the UIA. Read more.
Scam alert for employers from LARA
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will never ask you to provide your credit card numbers or other personal information over the phone, by text, email, or letter. Please see LARA’s IT Security & Data Protection page for more information on how to identify scams and report suspicious activity.
LARA has identified fraudulent emails impersonating LARA officials. These emails may reference “Action Required – LARA Enforcement Notice #83700” and request signatures or confidential information.
- Do NOT click links or share personal data.
- Be cautious of emails that create urgency or request confidential actions.
- Verify communications via official channels: Michigan.gov/LARA.
- If you suspect fraud, report it immediately to LARA-Safety@michigan.gov.
