MiUI Minute: Issue Twelve
December 08, 2025
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). In this issue of the MiUI Minute, we’re providing an update on the expected launch of tax functions.
Update on MiUI Go-Live
Tax Functionality will Launch Early 2026
UIA is committed to providing users with a new, modern computer system that will speed tax reporting by employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) and provide enhanced customer experience while incorporating robust anti-fraud practices. Our commitment to excellence led us to make a reasoned, data-driven decision to roll back the scheduled launch of MiUI for employers and TPAs. MiUI’s tax functions for employers and TPAs will now launch in early 2026.
The project team has and will continue to work tirelessly to prepare for the launch of MiUI. Please visit MiUI University and look for additional editions of the MiUI Minute newsletter in the coming weeks for more information. More information will be provided soon about filing fourth quarter wage and tax reports, due Jan. 26, 2026.
At this point, it's not anticipated that the delay in launching the tax functions in MiUI will affect our scheduled summer 2026 rollout of the benefits functions in MiUI for all users.
Employer or TPA Seminars on MiUI
UIA is pleased to offer MiUI seminars for employers and TPAs. However, with the rescheduled launch of MiUI, we will postpone future seminars until January 2026.
You can view a recording of an earlier seminar at MiUI University.
Prepare for MiUI: 5 Actions To Take Now
Here are some things you can do to prepare for MiUI:
- Watch Michigan.gov/UIA for updated information as development of MiUI continues.
- Visit MiUI University for new FAQs, resource guides, videos, trainings, and other information about MiUI that will aid employers and TPA in navigating the new system.
- Create a MiLogin for Business account if you don’t already have one so you can associate MiUI to your MiLogin for Business account. If you have a MiLogin for Business account, search for MiUI to associate it with your account. Our MiLogin for MiUI Step-by-Step Guide explains how to complete both options.
- Review contact information, payment methods, and user permissions in MiWAM to make sure they are up-to-date.
- Test your MiUI wage report file formats using the Wage Report File Validation tool to prepare for your first submission after MiUI launches.
