Wolf Line Construction highlights Registered Apprenticeship as a map to success

For employers looking to build a resilient, highly skilled workforce, Registered Apprenticeship Programs offer a proven roadmap to success. A powerful example of this model in action is Wolf Line Construction, recognized as a 2026 Impact Award Winner and 2026 Michigan Works Association Employer of the Year through a partnership with Northwest Michigan Works!.

This prestigious honor highlights the company’s dedication to workforce development and building robust career pathways in the utility and broadband industries.

Through a strategic partnership with Registered Apprenticeship Sponsor Northwest Michigan Works!, Wolf Line has established U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) Registered Apprenticeship Programs, including Fiber Optic Lineman and Broadband Technician paths, that combine On-Job-Learning with Related Instruction from Northwest Lineman College.

These programs provide clear entry points for crucial roles, helping meet the growing demand for skilled professionals while ensuring top-tier safety and craftsmanship. Currently, 30 workers in northern Michigan are beginning rewarding career paths as fiber optic line workers through this collaboration.

A key highlight of this year's recognition is journey worker and Purple Heart recipient Ryan, who was also named a 2026 Impact Award winner.

Ryan demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to local communities by leading critical linework restoration efforts following severe ice storms. His journey underscores the incredible talent and dedication that apprenticeships help cultivate.

Wolf Line Construction’s success illustrates how customizable training models benefit businesses of all sizes and types. Whether operating in utility infrastructure, healthcare, IT, manufacturing or construction, employers can partner with regional agencies like Michigan Works! to receive comprehensive technical assistance and administrative support for developing their own programs.

By investing in structured earn-and-learn models, employers gain a reliable pipeline of competent, safety-focused workers who understand company standards from day one.
