Charisse’s Registered Apprenticeship Journey
October 28, 2026
When Charisse decided to turn her lifelong passion for cooking into a thriving business, she knew she needed more than just a love for food. She needed hands-on industry experience, technical mastery and the business acumen required to launch her own culinary LLC. That drive led her to enroll in the culinary program at Zaman International, setting the stage for a transformative career path.
After completing her initial training, Charisse applied and was accepted as Zaman International’s official Culinary Arts registered apprentice. Stepping into the Registered Apprenticeship Program allowed her to immerse herself in professional kitchen operations while receiving structured mentorship and training.
In her day-to-day work, Charisse has refined core technical competencies that distinguish a home cook from a professional chef. She has concentrated on sharpening her knife skills, mastering precise recipe execution and maintaining rigorous food safety protocols. Beyond the kitchen line, the Registered Apprenticeship Program has provided invaluable perspective on the business side of food service. Charisse has gained firsthand experience navigating the ins-and-outs of the culinary industry, learning how to strategically price dishes and plan menus that resonate with customers.
Equally important to her technical growth has been the personal transformation fostered by the program. Charisse notes that the experience has helped her recognize her full potential, cultivating deeper confidence, stronger communication skills and professional poise.
"I am hoping to build myself into something I’m proud of and bring others along the way," Charisse shared warmly.
Her success is also a testament to the supportive ecosystem at Zaman International. Charisse credits the program’s team, including Zaman’s Culinary Arts Instructor, for providing unwavering encouragement through challenging times and fostering a positive, empowering environment where apprentices can truly learn and thrive.
For employers considering creating a new Registered Apprenticeship Program or expanding an existing one, Charisse’s journey highlights how structured, earn-while-you-learn programs bridge the gap between passion and professional capability. By investing in talent through Registered Apprenticeships, organizations not only cultivate skilled workers tailored to industry needs but also empower individuals to build lasting, impactful careers.
