Department of State suspends Antrim County auto dealer's license

BELLAIRE – The Michigan Department of State has suspended the license of Antrim County auto dealer Mid Michigan Motor Sales, 6612 Bellaire Highway, Bellaire, after the dealership was discovered closed and a regulation agent was unable to inspect dealership records.

Department of State regulatory staff attempted to conduct an inspection at Mid Michigan Motor Sales on April 17, and the dealership, owned by David Hitchcock, was closed with no vehicles displayed for sale. No one was present to provide the records, as required by law. Therefore, violations were written for noncompliance. The suspension was served May 6.

The Department of State’s Office of Investigative Services inspects and investigates automotive-related businesses. Consumers who have a complaint against Mid Michigan Motor Sales are encouraged to call the Office of Investigative Services automotive complaint line at 517-335-1410.

Dealers may request an administrative hearing to contest their suspension and may regain their license if they show they’ve complied with the law. Additional administrative actions are also possible.
