Department of State suspends license of Detroit vehicle dealership

DETROIT – The Department of State has suspended the license of a Detroit vehicle dealership for failing to provide records for inspection as required by law.

Cars 4 You Financial Inc., 12001 Livernois Ave., owned by Ranin Elias, was served with a summary suspension Sept. 17 after two attempts to inspect the dealership’s records were unsuccessful. Because no one was present when the regulation agent arrived to serve the suspension, the agent posted a sign stating that the business was closed by order of the Department of State and the notice of the suspension was mailed to Elias. The department had received complaints from customers who had bought a vehicle but were never given the title to the vehicle.

In the first attempt Aug. 22, although an employee was on the premises working on vehicles, he didn’t have authorization from the manager or owner to provide the necessary records. The regulation agent left a business card but wasn’t contacted by the dealership. During the second attempt Aug. 28, the dealership was closed and no employees were seen on the property.

To lift the summary suspension, Elias must present all records dating back to Feb. 15, 2017, for inspection. Elias also may request a hearing if she believes there are mitigating circumstances that could affect the outcome of the case. To date, Elias hasn’t submitted a hearing request.

Consumers who have a complaint against Cars 4 You Financial are encouraged to call the Office of Investigative Services automotive complaint line at 517-335-1410.
