Benson visits Michigan International Auto Show in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson participated in the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Michigan International Auto Show in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, where she saw everything from an original Model T to state-of-the art electric vehicles.

“The Michigan International Auto Show has it all,” said Benson. “See for yourself through Sunday in Grand Rapids.”

As the state’s chief motor vehicles officer, Benson oversees the 131 Secretary of State offices across Michigan, where visits now take an average of just 20 minutes or less. Residents can schedule their visit ahead of time to ensure they are seen immediately and confirm which documents they need to bring with them. Visits can be scheduled at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-SOS-MICH.

Benson also doubled the number of services available online and at more than 160 self-service stations, most of which are located in grocery stores and open evenings and weekends. Now residents conduct nearly 60 percent of transactions without visiting a Secretary of State office at all.

“We are meeting people where they are with the services they need and making government work for all Michiganders,” said Benson.
