Atlanta Secretary of State office closed for repairs due to storm damage

Many transactions can be done at Michigan.gov/SOS

ATLANTA, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 12519 State St. in Atlanta will be closed until further notice due to structural damage to the roof of the building, which was caused by a storm. This closure is necessary to protect the health and safety of residents and staff. The repair project is estimated to take at least two weeks and possibly as long as eight weeks.

Residents and staff are currently being rerouted to the office at 931 S. Otsego Ave. in Gaylord. That office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, with the exception of Wednesdays, when it is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead and complete their transaction in minutes.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

Self-service stations are available for instant registration renewals, driver’s license and ID renewals, and some other transactions. There are machines located in Meijer stores, during store hours, at 1254 M-32 W in Alpena and 250 Meijer Drive in Gaylord.
