December 06, 2023
Most transactions can be done at Michigan.gov/SOS
DEARBORN, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 5090 Schaefer Road in Dearborn will be closed for a week during a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.
The office will be closed Monday, Dec. 11 through Friday, Dec. 15 and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18. The self-service station located in vestibule of the back entrance to the branch will remain available to residents 24/7 throughout the closure.
Renovations include improvements to the counter and new carpet.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet or mobile phone.
Self-service stations provide instant registration, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer several language options including Arabic and Spanish. In addition to the Dearborn branch office, machines are located in Kroger stores at 15255 Michigan Ave. and 23303 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.
Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative offices in Detroit and Inkster at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424.
