Secretary of State office in Sparta to close for remodeling project until July 29

Most transactions can be done at Michigan.gov/SOS
SPARTA, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 534 State St. in Sparta will be closed for two days this week during a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.
The office will be closed Thursday, July 25, and Friday, July 26, and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 29.
The office is being repainted.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Self-service stations provide instant registration, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options, including Spanish. The nearest machine is located in the Meijer store at 2799 10 Mile Rd. in Rockford.
Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424.
The nearest offices are at 3472 Plainfield Ave. NE in Grand Rapids and 701 S. Greenville W Dr. in Greenville. Both offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays, when the hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
