Secretary of State office in Dearborn to close June 23-24 for remodeling project

Most transactions can be done at Michigan.gov/SOS

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 5094 Schaefer Rd. in Dearborn will be closed for two days next week during a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.

The office will be closed Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24, and will resume normal service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25.

The project includes remodeling the greeter stations and moving the commercial driver’s license (CDL) testing areas to a more convenient location within the branch office.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

Self-service stations provide instant registration, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options. The nearest self-service stations are located in the Kroger stores at 15255 Michigan Ave. and 23303 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.

Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424.

The nearest offices are located at 2835 Bagley St. in Detroit and 21572 Ecorse Rd. in Taylor. Both offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays, when the hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
