January 26, 2026
Most transactions can be done at Michigan.gov/SOS
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 9001 Joseph Campau Ave. in Hamtramck will be closed for two weeks because of a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.
The office will be closed on Monday, Feb. 2 and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17 after the Presidents Day holiday.
The project includes carpet replacement, fresh paint, and other building upgrades.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Self-service stations provide instant license plate, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options. The nearest self-service stations are located in the branch office at 580 E. Warren Ave. in Detroit and in the Glory Supermarket at 14100 Woodward Ave. in Highland Park.
