Over 1 million voters have already cast a ballot
LANSING, Mich. – This is the final weekend for most Michigan voters to cast a ballot in person at an early voting site for the Aug. 4 Primary Election. More than one million voters have already voted early or with a mail ballot as of 7 a.m. July 31 – a turnout rate of 14% of the state’s active registered voters.
While the statewide early voting period ends on Sunday, Aug. 2, some jurisdictions are offering an additional day on Monday, Aug. 3. Voters can visit mi.gov/earlyvoting to check their early voting polling site locations and hours of operation.
Between July 25 and July 30, a total of 73,158 voters cast a ballot at an early voting site, which includes 30,740 voters casting their ballot in the first three days of statewide early voting. The highest early in-person voting turnout day so far was Thursday, July 30, with 15,965 ballots cast. A total of 1,032,963 voters have already cast a ballot in the election, including 959,805 mail (absentee) ballots.
The following communities are offering early in-person voting on Monday:
Voters should return their mail ballot as soon as possible to their local clerk’s office, at a secure drop box, or by putting it in the tabulator themselves at their early voting site or at the polls on Election Day. Returning a ballot by mail is no longer recommended due to the potential of postal delays – a ballot not received by 8 p.m. on Aug. 4 will not be counted.
Eligible Michigan residents can register to vote or update their voter registration through Election Day by visiting their local clerk’s office with proof of residency.

Starting tomorrow, Michigan voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballot for the August Primary Election in person at their early voting site. The statewide early voting period begins Saturday, July 25 and ends on Sunday, Aug. 2.
