DNR's Swan River and Medusa Creek Weirs
-
The Swan River Weir is located on private property in Presque Isle County, south of Rogers City. It's considered a backup weir, able to assist in the collection of Chinook salmon eggs when the other weirs are unable to meet their quota.
-
Medusa Creek Weir is on Medusa Creek near the city of Charlevoix in Charlevoix County, also on private property. Salmon are redirected from the stream into a man-made pond where they are harvested, their roe collected and then the salmon are processed by a private company for sale and distribution. The creek is regularly restocked in order to ensure the continual return of salmon each year as well as to provide a major source of sport fishing in the great lakes.
