The Department of Natural Resources carefully manages Michigan’s public lands, minerals, forests, waterways, fish and wildlife. Management of these resources generates revenue to fund parks, boating access sites, and habitats and contributes nearly $85 billion annually to Michigan’s economy.

The economic activity associated with Michigan’s recreational fishery is at least $3.9 billion and supports nearly 34,500 jobs.
