License requirements for fur harvesting:

  • Base license 
  • Fur harvesting license 
  • Residents who intend to harvest bobcat, otter, fisher or marten must request and be issued free kill tags for those species. The kill tag must be replaced by an official DNR seal at a registration station.

  • Hunting season dates:

    • Unit A, B and C
      • Jan. 1 - March 1
    • Unit D
      • Jan. 1 - Feb. 1
    • Unit G
      • Jan. 1-20
    • Unit H
      • Jan. 1-11

    Trapping season dates:

    • Units A and B
      • Oct. 25 - Dec. 26
    • Units C, D and G
      • Dec. 10-29
    • Unit H
      • Dec. 10-20

    Note: Oct. 24 is the last day to obtain bobcat kill tags for a season. 

    Bag limits:

    • 2 per resident fur harvester. One kill tag is valid for all lands and for all units combined. A second kill tag is valid for Unit A ONLY, on private lands (excluding Commercial Forest lands).

    • Fisher/marten have a combined bag limit of 2 per resident fur harvester, of which only 1 may be a fisher. (The fisher/marten kill tag can be used for 1 fisher OR 1 marten. The marten only kill tag can be used for 1 marten.)

    Note: The use of centerfire firearms .269 caliber or smaller for the take of coyotes, foxes, raccoons and opossums at night is now permitted on public and private lands statewide. Nighttime take with centerfire firearms is still prohibited in all state parks and recreation areas.
