Huron Pines – Elk Run Tract
Description
The DNR purchased 235 acres of land in Cheboygan County with grants provided by the U.S. Forest Service Forest Legacy Program and the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. The land is an upland forest and will provide wildlife habitat connectivity, sustainable supply of forest products, and recreational opportunities for wildlife viewing, hunting and other related activities enjoyed in the Pigeon River County Management Unit. The land was acquired from Huron Pines Resource Conservation & Development Council, who secured the property from a private landowner when it became available for sale.

Description
The DNR purchased 120 acres of land in Charlevoix County using the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund and the Wetlands General Fund. Acquisition of this land provides additional wildlife habitat and consolidates state land. The land is now being managed as part of the Beaver Island Wildlife Research Area.
Mol tract
Description
The DNR purchased 41.4 acres of land in Charlevoix County using the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund. The tract of land consolidates park ownership and provides additional recreation opportunities to the public, including hunting, a use currently underserved in Charlevoix County. The land is now being managed as part of Fisherman’s Island State Park.
Perry Estate
Description
The DNR purchased 33.8 acres of land in Cheboygan County using the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund. The tract of land contains a section of the Oxbow Creek and provides additional protection to the riparian areas as well as consolidating state ownership. The land is now being managed as part of the Pigeon River County Forest Management Unit.
Rosenow tract
Description
The DNR purchased 40 acres of land in Kalkaska County using the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund. The tract of land was surrounded by state-owned land and acquisition provided land consolidation, opportunity for additional timber management, and wildlife habitat. The land is now being managed as part of the Traverse City Forest Management Unit.
Schock exchange
Description
This exchange was offered by the applicant to acquire 160 acres of land for 139.5 acres of land in Otsego County. The exchange provided consolidated public ownership and better access to the Pigeon River. The offered land is being managed as part of the Pigeon River County State Forest.
Ford River exchange
Description
This exchange was offered by the applicant to acquire 80 acres of land in Iron County in exchange for two 40-acre tracts in Marquette County. The desired land was surrounded by private ownership and had no legal public access. The offered land increased state forest land within an obligate deer wintering complex and public access to state forest lands. The offered land is now being managed as part of the Gwinn Forest Management Unit.
Doe lake
Description
The DNR purchased 320 acres of land in Cheboygan County, adjacent to the Elk Run Tract, with a grant provided by the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. The land contains the entirety of Doe Lake, a sinkhole lake, and provides enhanced access for recreation activities and protect contiguous forest, riparian areas and wildlife habitat. The land was acquired from Little Traverse Conservancy, who secured the property from a private landowner when it became available for sale.
Saginaw Land Bank gift
Description
Saginaw County Land Bank gifted the DNR approximately 37.85 acres of land in the City of Saginaw to be managed as part of the Saginaw River Headwaters Recreation Area or the Racer Trust Tract. The land will be managed and restored as part of the open space and trails component of the recreation area.
Stemple tract
Description
The DNR purchased 80 acres of land in Clare County using the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund. The tract contains primarily upland areas and will consolidate state ownership. The land is now being managed as part of the Gladwin Management Unit.
Voegtline tract
Description
The DNR purchased 10 acres of land in Baraga County using the Land Exchange Facilitation Fund. The tract of land serves to consolidate park ownerships for increased recreational opportunities. The land is now being managed as part of Craig Lake State Park.
General Motors gift
Description
General Motors gifted the State of Michigan approximately 1.45 acres in the City of Flint to be managed as part of the Flint State Park. The property will be utilized to develop a parking lot near the riverfront.
Schoolcraft county
Description
The DNR purchased approximately 3.24 acres of land from Schoolcraft County in the City of Manistique to be utilized as part of a project to maintain an existing dam as a sea lamprey barrier. The funding for this purchase was generously provided by the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission.
Hereau exchange
Description
This exchange was offered by the applicant to acquire 40-acres of land in Missaukee County in exchange for 160 acres of land in Dickinson County. The desired land was surrounded by private ownership and classified as an exchange parcel in the State Land Review. The offered 160 acres increased public access to Hayes Creek, a cold-water transitional stream, and increased state forest land within an obligate deer wintering complex, which consolidating state ownership. The offered land is now being managed as part of the Escanaba Forest Management Unit.
Moore exchange
Description
The applicant offered 1.22-acres of land in exchange for 1.56 acres of land to resolve a long-standing structural trespass. The exchange provided consolidated ownership and clear property lines. The offered land is now being managed as part of the Baraga Forest Management Unit.
Raymer exchange
Description
This exchange was offered by the applicant to acquire 4.1 acres of land in exchange for 10 acres of land. The exchange provided the applicant access to his property and resulted in a net increase in land for public use. The offered land is now being managed as part of the Baraga Forest Management Unit.
MacArthur exchange
Description
This exchange was offered by the applicant to acquire 53.19-acres of land adjacent to their private ownership in exchange for 40 acres of land with frontage on the Thunder Bay River. The offered land is now being managed as part of the Atlanta Forest Management Unit and resulted in consolidated land ownership and more efficient land management.
