Wildlife Action Plan

About the Wildlife Action Plan

Michigan’s Wildlife Action Plan is a partner-developed, strategic framework to cooperatively conserve wildlife and their habitats – especially those wildlife populations already in decline. That’s important for residents, too, because many uncommon fish and wildlife provide valuable information about the health of Michigan's water, land and air.

Recovering American's Wildlife Act

The July 2019 reintroduction of the Recovering America's Wildlife Act is huge conservation news for Michigan! If passed, this once-in-a-generation opportunity could mean more than $1.3 billion for state-led conservation efforts, including roughly $27 million a year here at home. For more information see RAWA: Good for Michigan's wildlife, economy and people.

Connecting RAWA to our Wildlife Action Plan

In order to take advantage of the funds from the act, each state must have a federally approved Wildlife Action Plan. The Recovering America's Wildlife Act will significantly advance the implementation of these plans, enabling states to recover thousands of at-risk species.
