Riding stables (with rentals) and equestrian guide services
Are you interested in trail riding, but you don't own your own horse? A handful of privately owned riding stables and guiding services operate in southeastern Michigan state parks (prices, hours and regulations vary by location).
Riding stables
Brighton Recreation Area Riding Stable
Take a peaceful ride through the serene bridle trails at Brighton Recreation Area. There are trail rides offered year-round weather permitting. There are options for all ages, including hand-led horseback trail rides for families with children under 8 years old and hour long trail rides for everyone ages 8 and up.
Horse N Around Riding Stable at Waterloo and Pinckney recreation areas
Jump in the saddle for an experience you'll never forget. Children as young as six (must be at least 42" tall) can ride. The trails in Pinckney lead to the Lakeland Trail, a horse lovers dream ride that's full of groomed and smooth riding. The trails at Waterloo are some of the most beautiful in the state, not to mention the largest in the Lower Peninsula.
