Weather
October 20, our opening day was cool and sunny with no precipitation. Low of 38 degrees in the morning to 68 degrees in the afternoon made for a fair hunt.
Waterfowl abundance
Goose numbers are low for this time of year (around 500). Duck numbers are fair but include species that often do not utilize the fields (16,000 for all species).
Hunting conditions
Mild and sunny weather is causing moderate hunting conditions.
Hunter numbers
Tuesday morning, opening day had 9 parties with 22 hunters.
Waterfowl harvest
Tuesday’s hunter harvest was 20 geese and 2 ducks.
What to expect this week
The 2026 Managed hunt will continue as usual. Tuesday morning draw at 5:30am, Thursday afternoon draw at 11:00am and Saturday at 5:30 morning and 11:00 afternoon draws.
Corn is just starting to be harvested (2 fields, 32 and 36 ). No strips left in fields.
