Week ending 12/23/2024
Weather
Cold week, with daytime highs generally in the upper 20s and 5–6 inches of new snow.
Waterfowl abundance
Duck and goose numbers dropping this week, and most of the lagoon areas frozen. Only limited open water.
Hunting conditions
A brief warm-up and thaw mid-week melted some of the snow, but most of the fields ended up snow covered due to the late week snowstorm.
Hunter numbers
Very low numbers of hunter trips. Averaging only 1 or 2 hunting parties per drawing this past week, and one to four hunters. Final numbers were 281 hunter trips for the season.
Waterfowl harvest
The weekly harvest was two Canada geese. The final harvest numbers for the season were 98 geese and 50 ducks harvested.
What to expect this week
The 2024 Wastewater managed hunt ended Saturday, Dec. 21.

After a promising start, harvest equipment problems and tillage issues created difficult hunting conditions for the last half of the Muskegon GMU season.
