LARA Summarily Suspends a Group Child Care Home License in Kent County
May 03, 2023
The Michigan Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Child Care Licensing Bureau (CCLB), has summarily suspended and issued a notice of intent to revoke the group child care home license of Ericka and Thomas Cronkright, located at 50 Solon in Cedar Springs.
The complaint investigation that concluded on May 2, 2023, found violations of the Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Failure to provide appropriate care and supervision at all times
- Failure to act in a manner that is conducive to the welfare of children
- Failure to store ammunition separately from firearms
Effective 6:00 p.m., May 2, 2023, the summary suspension order and notice of intent to revoke prohibits the Cronkrights from operating a group child care home at 50 Solon, in Cedar Springs, or at any other address or location. Accordingly, they may not accept children for care after that date and time. The order also requires the licensees to inform all parents of children in their care that the license has been suspended and that they can no longer provide child care.
It was critical to take emergency action to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the children at this group child care home.
