MACKINAC ISLAND, MI — At the Mackinac Policy Conference, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) announced the launch of its first podcast, the “LARA Living Room”.
This twice-monthly podcast offers listeners a closer look at the people, the policies, and the enforcement efforts that drive LARA’s work. By sharing thoughtful conversations and impactful stories, the “LARA Living Room” aims to make Michigan’s regulatory landscape more accessible and relatable to the public.
“At LARA, our mission is to protect the public, promote business growth, and ensure safety, fairness, and accountability across Michigan,” said LARA Director Marlon I. Brown. “The ‘LARA Living Room’ podcast is an exciting new platform that allows us to connect with different audiences, offering a better understanding of how our work keeps Michigan moving forward, safely and effectively.”
Hosted by LARA’s Assistant Deputy Director Anastasha Osborn, the podcast will feature interviews with department staff and leadership, offering insights into how LARA protects people and promotes business while ensuring accountability across a wide range of industries. Upcoming episodes will give licensees, partners, stakeholders, lawmakers, and LARA employees a closer look at Michigan’s regulatory framework.
The podcast will spark conversations about key issues that matter to Michiganders whose lives are impacted by LARA’s work. Topics covered will include how regulations work in partnership with the Michigan legislature, understanding Michigan’s cannabis and liquor industries, regulating healthcare and community-based systems, how healthcare and occupational professionals are licensed, and many other issues that fall under the purview of LARA.
The first episode is available in the LARA Living Room, with new episodes released twice each month.
