Michigan Launches New MiBusiness Registry Portal to Improve Business Filing Services

LANSING, MICH. - The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has launched the MiBusiness Registry Portal, a new online system that replaces the state’s previous business filing platform. The new portal is designed to provide a more efficient and accessible way for Michigan’s businesses to complete required filings and manage business records.

“This new system offers an improved experience for our business customers,” said LARA Director Marlon I. Brown. “The MiBusiness Registry Portal allows individuals and organizations to handle their business filings with greater ease and confidence.”

The MiBusiness Registry Portal provides a single location for services such as:

  • Business entity formation
  • Online submission of annual reports and statements
  • Requesting certificates and document copies
  • Searching for and viewing business records

The new system was developed in coordination with a vendor that has helped other states implement similar technology. It is designed to be easier to use and more responsive to the needs of modern business operations.

To access the portal, users must log-in with a MiLogin for Business account to submit filings or place certificate or copy orders.

Key Changes for Businesses

  •  Annual reports and statements must now be filed online. Paper forms will no longer be accepted. Reminder postcards will be mailed to businesses that have not signed up for email notifications.
  • All certificate and document copy requests must be submitted through the new portal. Telephone orders are no longer available.
  • The previous method of accessing records using a CID and PIN has been discontinued. All access and filings now require a secure login through MiLogin for Business.
  • Users can pay for multiple filings at once using a new shopping cart feature. This helps reduce the number of individual payments required.

The MiBusiness Registry Portal represents a major upgrade in how Michigan manages business records and filings. To learn more about the portal or to begin using the new system, visit www.michigan.gov/lara, click on “I Need to…” and “Start a Business, File Annual Reports, or Lookup a Business.”
