CRAs Hanna Re-elected as Cannabis Regulators Association Board Member

The Cannabis Regulators Association (CANNRA), an international organization of government officials who oversee cannabis policy, held elections for its executive board earlier this month prior to CANNRA’s annual external stakeholder conference in Denver, CO, and Brian Hanna – the executive director of Michigan’s Cannabis Regulatory Agency – was re-elected to his second consecutive term on the board.

Adria Berry (Oklahoma) was elected CANNRA's president and succeeds Dominique Mendiola (Colorado) as the organization’s president. The other board members are Kirsten Davis-Franklin (Illinois), Nicole Elliott (California), Lila McKinley (Connecticut), and Amy Moore (Missouri), and Andrew Turnage (Georgia). Mendiola will serve in the role of CANNRA’s Immediate Past President.

“I am excited to serve on CANNRA’s board again this year,” said Hanna. “As we continue to do the work to shape the future of cannabis and hemp regulation in Michigan and across the country, I’m honored to have been selected by my peers to help lead the way forward for the cannabis industry.”

“I am looking forward to working with the 2025-2026 board to further our mission to convene, educate, and support government agencies involved in cannabis, cannabinoid, and hemp regulation,” said Dr. Gillian Schauer, Executive Director of CANNRA. “Our board represents regulators overseeing regulatory programs with a range of policies for cannabis and hemp,” she added. “They will be well positioned to help CANNRA bring regulators and stakeholders together for essential conversations in this dynamic environment.”

The election was held at a CANNRA Business Meeting that occurred on June 9th, the day before CANNRA’s External Stakeholder Meeting, which took place in Denver, CO on June 10th & 11th and included over 130 regulators and government officials from more than 30 jurisdictions, as well as over 175 other stakeholders from nationally and internationally focused organizations.

CANNRA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association of government agencies involved in cannabis, cannabinoid, and hemp regulation across more than 45 states and U.S. territories, Canada, Albania, Malta, and the Netherlands.
