MI Dept of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Launches New Podcast LARA Living Room

LANSING, MICH – In case you missed it, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has officially launched LARA Living Room, a new podcast series that offers staff, media, stakeholders, and the public a behind-the-scenes look at how regulation works in Michigan — and why it matters.

The podcast features real conversations with the professionals behind LARA’s work, exploring the human side of regulation and the ways licensing and oversight directly impact the lives of Michigan residents.

“LARA Living Room is our invitation to the public to sit down with us and learn how policy and regulation come to life,” said Marlon I. Brown, Director of LARA. “We want to demystify the regulatory process and give people a clearer understanding of how we work to protect their safety, support their livelihoods, and serve the public interest.”

Each episode dives into topics across LARA’s broad scope of responsibilities, including:

  • The licensing journey for Michigan professionals
  • How inspectors help keep communities safe
  • Innovations in regulatory technology and compliance
  • Personal stories from behind the scenes

The podcast aims to increase transparency, build trust, and connect more Michiganders to LARA’s mission of protecting people and promoting business.

The LARA Living Room is available now on LARA's website, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Buzzsprout, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Licensees, stakeholders, and industry partners are encouraged to listen, subscribe, and share with their respective audiences to help amplify public understanding of Michigan’s regulatory landscape and its everyday impact.
