The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. Director is a voting member and makes final decision on projects (Public Act 411 of 2012).

Cody first came to Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) in August 2025 with the goal of obtaining full-time employment. He brought more than 10 years of custodial experience and wanted to continue working in the custodial field because he thrives in a structured environment with routine and repetitive tasks, making custodial work a strong fit for his skills and preferences.
From the beginning, Cody was motivated, cooperative and actively engaged in the vocational rehabilitation process. He worked closely with his MRS counselor through weekly meetings, during which they updated his resume and cover letter, developed job search strategies, prepared for interviews, and monitored his progress toward employment.
Through his persistence and dedication, Cody attended several job interviews and maintained excellent communication with his MRS counselor throughout the process. By discussing each interview in advance and reviewing his performance afterward, he was able to prepare effectively and continually strengthen his interviewing skills.
His efforts resulted in two job offers! After carefully considering his options, Cody accepted a custodial position with a local Intermediate School District.
Today, Cody continues to work as a custodian at an elementary school, where he plans to remain. His coworkers have become like family to him, making his workplace a supportive and welcoming environment.
By staying committed to his employment goal and actively participating in MRS services, Cody successfully achieved the outcome he set for himself. His story demonstrates how determination, consistent effort and a strong partnership with MRS can lead to meaningful and lasting employment success.
