Unemployment Update #10

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new unemployment tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). MiUI is being rolled out in two phases: Tax functions are now live, and Benefits functions are scheduled to launch November 9.

In this issue of the MiUI Unemployment Update, we are sharing details about a system Downtime Period before Go Live and a reminder about the Introduction to MiUI webinars, available now through November 6.

Be Prepared for System Downtime

A Downtime Period is a scheduled time during which UIA transitions data and information to the new MiUI user platform. It will start at 4:30 p.m. Monday, November 2, and end at 8 a.m. Monday, November 9, when MiUI Goes Live.

How does this affect you?

During the Downtime Period, users will not be able to use the current MiWAM system, which will be permanently offline when MiUI launches on Monday, November 9. Also during the Downtime Period, all UIA Local Offices and phone lines will be unavailable while the system transition is made.
The Michigan.gov/UIA website and chatbot will be accessible during the Downtime Period to answer general unemployment questions.

What do I need to do to prepare for the Downtime Period?  

To receive payment, claimants are strongly encouraged to certify for weekly benefits early, prior to the start of the Downtime Period, when MiWAM will be shut down. Certifications will not be possible during the Downtime Period. You will be able to certify starting Monday, November 9, in the new MiUI system. 

How will I access MiUI once it is live?  

Use the link to MiUI on the Michigan.gov/UIA homepage. The link will take you to MiLogin, where you will enter your username and password, then navigate to the Pure Michigan Talent Connect dashboard to access MiUI.
