Access for All apprentice overcomes barriers to join Painter’s Registered Apprenticeship Program
January 01, 2025
Through perseverance, Cherish overcame a previous barrier enabling her to enter a Workforce Development Institute (WDI) Access for All Cohort in Jackson. During the training, she proactively sought out tutoring from an instructor at WDI and Southeast Michigan Works! partners.
Through dedication and hard work, Cherish was selected for a Painter's Registered Apprenticeship Program where she worked in her hometown on the renovation of the Historic Michigan Theater, a noteworthy project!
“Cherish is a shining example of why the Access for All program exists," stated WDI Executive Director Chong-Anna Canfora. "Talented people, like Cherish, often find that hard work alone is not enough to enter a thriving wage career. By surrounding our participants with a resourceful team who can assist in removing obstacles WDI is helping to ensure that communities are able to tap into their own valuable talent pool. Cherish has made us and her hometown proud!"
