The Leadership of Trevon
March 25, 2026
Trevon joined the MiSide Michigan Apprenticeship Readiness Certification (MARC) Level I endorsed training program in March 2024 with a clear objective to turn his informal family construction experience into a professional career.
From the start, Trevon demonstrated the steadfast commitment required for the skilled trades. His perfect attendance and positive outlook earned the respect of instructors and peers alike. Beyond the technical curriculum, Trevon emerged as a natural leader, establishing a student council and serving as student president to support his classmates and strengthen the program’s community.
Through the MARC-endorsed program, Trevon built a robust portfolio of professional qualifications, earning his NCCER, MUST, OSHA 30, Customer Service, and CPR certifications. He applied these skills during hands-on training, contributing to the renovation of a Southwest Detroit home and gaining the high-level technical mastery necessary for union entry.
Trevon’s dedication led to a major career milestone in March 2025 when he was accepted into the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights.
Now a first-year apprentice, he balances his union training with a part-time car detailing business. Despite his busy professional schedule, Trevon continues to give back to the program as a mentor and recruiter for new cohorts.
His success is part of a broader impact at MiSide, where 87 participants have successfully completed the MARC endorsed Apprenticeship Readiness Program.
Trevon is one of five recent Apprenticeship Readiness program completers who have already transitioned into a Registered Apprenticeship Program, proving that the MARC endorsement serves as a vital bridge to lifelong career growth and leadership in Michigan’s construction industry.
