Power Solutions Group launched Registered Apprenticeship Program to meet talent need
May 29, 2026
Macomb Michigan Works! proudly recognized Power Solutions Group with the 2026 Impact Award. Founded in 2006, the company delivers critical electrical engineering and power systems services across industrial and infrastructure sectors where skilled talent is vital to operational reliability.
To address the growing demand for skilled talent, Power Solutions Group launched a Registered Apprenticeship program in 2023. This structured, four-year model combines intensive on-the-job learning with classroom instruction and progressive wage advancements. Going above and beyond, the company incorporates external subject-matter experts, including building inspectors and educators, to deepen technical training. The program has already cultivated more than 30 apprentices, primarily through new hires.
This comprehensive approach yields incredible real-world results. Two Power Solutions Group apprentices recently placed in the top ten statewide out of 200 competitors in a rigorous electrical craftsmanship challenge. Ultimately, one standout apprentice captured the statewide title after an intense eight-hour simulation and represents Michigan at the national competition.
Strong public-private partnerships are foundational to this success. Power Solutions Group collaborates closely with Macomb Michigan Works! to leverage multiple state and federal funding streams, offsetting long-term training and registration costs. To ensure high retention and eliminate barriers to entry, Michigan Works! provides critical supportive services directly to the participants, covering essential tools, work attire, books and transportation.
Safety remains an uncompromising cornerstone of the corporate culture. Every apprentice completes OSHA-10 training before stepping onto a job site, and the entire workforce maintains First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications. This rigorous commitment to operational excellence recently earned Power Solutions Group national finalist honors for a premier safety and electrical contracting award.
Power Solutions Group exemplifies how aligning employer demand with public workforce resources creates a scalable, high-quality model that champions worker success and strengthens Michigan's economic infrastructure.
