Department of State takes action against Grand Blanc driver education provider
November 03, 2022
Grand Blanc, Mich. - The Michigan Department of State (MDOS) has suspended the operations of a Genesee County driver education provider found to be in violation of the Driver Education Provider and Instructor Act.
Training Day Drivers Academy LLC, formerly located at 9523 S. Saginaw Rd, Suite B, in Grand Blanc, was issued a summary suspension on Oct. 25. The driving school is owned by Ebony Booth as a private business, certified as Training Day Drivers Academy LLC.
An attempted business and classroom inspection revealed the established Grand Blanc office and classroom location was closed and vacant. The provider had moved to an unapproved location at 2442 E. Maple Rd., Suite 106, in Flint, where they were providing classroom instruction. The provider failed to update the ACORD, the Surety Bond, revise student contracts, and submit the request to change locations to the department to obtain a new provider certificate identifying the new address.
In addition, the provider failed to obtain departmental approval for the classroom being utilized— foregoing the fire marshal inspection and failing to update six behind-the-wheel routes. Further, the provider failed to submit requested student records and falsified classroom information when reporting to MDOS.
MDOS has suspended the instructor and provider certificates held by Ebony Booth.
Consumers who have a complaint against Training Day Drivers Academy LLC are encouraged to file a complaint with MDOS.
