On May 5, 2022, a trail camera photo was captured of a cougar in northern Ontonagon County. This is about 130 miles from where a December 31, 2021 photo was captured in Menominee County.
On May 14, 2022, DNR staff identified cougar tracks in central Mackinac County while conducting field work. This is about 195 miles from where a May 5 photo was captured in Ontonagon County.
On August 25, 2022, a trail camera photo was captured of a cougar in central Chippewa County. This is about 55 miles from where tracks were found on May 14 in Mackinac County. Thank you to the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Natural Resources Department and JKL Bahweting Anishnabe School for sharing and investigating the photo.
