Marquette State Fish Hatchery
Marquette State Fish Hatchery is currently closed to the public due to construction. The facility is expected to reopen to the public in fall 2025.
This facility was established in 1920 and produces the following species for both inland and Great Lakes waters:
- Brook trout
- Lake trout
- Splake
- Arctic grayling
Marquette State Fish Hatchery is the primary broodstock and rearing location for brook trout and lake trout and the only hatchery producing splake, a hybrid of brook trout and lake trout!
Hatchery Features
- Large adult brook trout, lake trout and Arctic grayling to view
- Indoor and outdoor educational areas
- Spawning brook trout and lake trout in Oct. and Nov.
- Spawning Arctic grayling in April
- Proximity to Northern Michigan University, downtown Marquette and Lake Superior
- Marquette Fisheries Research Station located upstairs
