This immersive bear hunting clinic in the scenic and rugged landscapes of Cadillac is designed to give you the essential knowledge and hands-on skills for a successful and ethical bear hunt. Whether you're a seasoned hunter looking to sharpen your skills or a beginner eager to learn from the experts, this clinic will provide you with the tools, techniques and confidence you need for your next bear hunt.
You'll be guided by Michigan’s highly experienced conservation officers and the Outdoor Skills Academy pro team. These experts bring years of professional experience and a wealth of knowledge about wildlife management, hunting techniques and the safe practices needed to have a successful hunt. You’ll not only hear firsthand stories from seasoned hunters but also gain essential insights into sustainable hunting practices that help preserve Michigan's wildlife.
The clinic is designed to be an engaging mix of classroom learning and outdoor experiences. For five to six hours, you'll dive deep into the critical aspects of bear hunting, including:
- Bear habitat: Learn about the natural environments where bears thrive and how to identify the best areas to hunt.
- Essential gear: Discover the must-have equipment for bear hunting, from rifles to camo gear, and gain expert tips on selecting and maintaining the best gear for your needs.
- Stand placement: Master the art of stand placement for optimal hunting success. Learn how to read the terrain, scout locations and set up your stand in ways that maximize your chances of a successful hunt.
- Baiting techniques: Uncover the secrets of effective baiting to attract bears safely and responsibly.
- Rules and regulations: Stay compliant with Michigan’s bear hunting laws and regulations, ensuring you understand the boundaries and restrictions to protect the ecosystem and promote sustainable practices.
- Carcass care: Learn the vital steps to properly care for a bear carcass, ensuring you make the most of your harvest while maintaining meat quality.
- Hide care: Get hands-on guidance on how to handle and preserve the hide for taxidermy or other uses.
This clinic isn’t just about learning from books – it’s about getting out in the field to experience bear hunting firsthand. You’ll spend valuable time absorbing key insights and applying what you've learned with expert guidance.
With only 45 students per class, the experience will be intimate and focused, ensuring that you have ample opportunities to ask questions, interact with the instructors and participate in meaningful discussions. Whether you’re preparing for your first hunt or refining your existing knowledge, you’ll leave with the skills and confidence to hunt safely and responsibly.
Cost is $25, which includes lunch, refreshments and door prizes.

Cancellations made up to 14 days prior to the program will be completely refunded to the original form of payment. If you cancel after the two-week deadline, no refund will be issued.
