Join the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council for a paddle from Fort Custer Recreation Area to Galesburg Community park. Following the paddle there will be free food, music, and activities to celebrate and reflect on our summer season. You can choose to register for just the paddle, just the celebration, or both the paddle and the celebration. The paddle will be held from 2-4pm and the celebration will be from 4-7pm. Please view our website for more detailed information. Pre-registration is required.
Vessel rentals are available for this trip from Mainstream Tackle & Outdoors for $30 per vessel. Please call 269-665-5076 to book and indicate you will be renting on the registration form.
If you are bringing your own vessel, please drop it off at the Kalamazoo River Launch at Fort Custer Recreation Area at 1:00pm. You will then drive your car to Galesburg Community Park where a shuttle will be waiting to drive you back to begin the paddle. If you are renting a vessel, please arrive at Galesburg Community Park at 1:30pm. You will be leaving your car there and will be shuttled to Fort Custer Recreation Area where your kayaks will be waiting. Note: an $11 entrance fee or a state recreation pass will be required upon entry for those driving a car into the Recreation Area. Signs will guide paddlers to the launch location within the Recreation Area. Pre-registration is required.
If you are paddling, please bring a hat, plastic bag or dry bag for phone, sunscreen, and water bottle.
