Plan a trip to Van Riper for a Lantern-Lit hike through the park! With kerosene lanterns guiding your way, there is a 1.5 mile self-guided loop winding through the snow-filled woods. The trail starts at the Peshekee River Rustic Cabin, where the cabin will be open with a warm fire beckoning inside.
The trail will be packed, but please bring your snowshoes; the park will have a limited supply available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Park staff will monitor conditions and cancel the event in the occurrence of inclement weather (severe storms/temperatures). Any cancellation will be posted on the Van Riper State Park and the Michigan Iron Industry Museum Facebook page.
A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Michigan state parks. To make a camping reservation, visit MIDNRReservations.com or call 1-800-447-2757.
