Courtney Pendleton
Deputy Director
Courtney Pendleton is a deputy director at LARA and oversees the Child Care Licensing Bureau (CCLB), the Bureau of Construction Codes (BCC), the Bureau of Professional Licensing (BPL), Corporations, Securities, and Commercial Licensing (CSCL) and the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission (MUCC). Courtney has been a state employee for over 20 years, holding various positions, including investigator and departmental specialist, in the Department of Treasury, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Office of Children’s Ombudsman. Courtney joined LARA’s executive leadership team in February 2019, where she served as a deputy operations officer, equity and inclusion officer and transparency liaison. She also served as the department’s liaison to the Governor’s office, its Appointments Division and to the Chief Compliance Officer. Courtney has a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Phoenix.
