On August 10, 1987, Federal Regulations established laws about patient confidentiality. Licensed Substance Use Disorder (SUD) programs are required to establish policies and procedures to address patient confidentiality. The polices will cover the following information and records, which is considered confidential:
- Records of Identity
- Records of Prognosis
- Records of Diagnosis
- Treatment Records
- Attendance Records
- Patient Status Records
- Physical Whereabouts Records
The above covered information may be released only by written consent signed by the client.
